The Bubblegum Sequencer

2007 (with Andrew McDiarmid)

Physical step sequencer that lets you create drumloops by arranging colored balls on a tangible surface. It generates MIDI events and can be used as an input device to control audio hardware and software.

Social status aggregator for a kiosk display in the School of Information masters lounge. Collects and displays status information of iSchool students from Facebook, Twitter and Google Talk (Google Talk scraper written by Kevin Lim).

User interface design and development project for a mobile application that enables travelers to explore other cities more spontaneously. It equips people with an enhanced sense of what's happening in their surrounding, allowing them to "play it by ear."

Diploma thesis

2006

For my undergraduate final thesis, I developed a method and working prototype of an imaging application for cancer research in pathology. The paper is called "Semi-automatic quantification of immunohistochemical specimen using image analysis."

Museum Guide for Berlinische Galerie

2005

Developed frontend for a handheld multimedia museum guide prototype. The application is based on HTML and Flash, runs on wifi-enabled Windows mobile devices (provided by the museum) and includes a streaming audio player.

2004-2005

Designed and implemented from the ground up the relaunch of a medium-sized website (~300 pages) with a graphical content management system. Alongside a content and design group, made technology decisions and developed software and information architecture.

Developed intranet / online community for large volunteer organization, including user management, news article and photo gallery system, discussion boards, integration in larger IT infrastructure. Consulted on nationwide intranet planning and architecture.
